Philippines

For the October Holiday, Sylvie and I went for a week long trip to the Philippines. We went to Busuanga Island and stayed at a resort on Uson Island which was a very short boat ride from Coron Town. We had a really good time snorkeling, hiking, sea kayaking, swimming, diving, exploring, and, of course, relaxing. It's a beautiful place and I know I will return some day.

A short hike on our way to swim in a lake.

Snorkeling into a lagoon.

It's hard to believe the ocean could be so calm.

Swimming in the hot springs that are apparently naturally kept warm by an active volcano..so relaxing!

Our accommodations...we were upgraded to this little hut part way through the week for no extra charge.

I was really happy about that! :)

Since it's a "dive" resort we decided to try it. It was so much fun! Both of us really enjoyed the experience.

Our instructor was really good. We got to do what is called "wreck diving". During WW2 many ships, due to a surprise US air raid, sunk around Busuanga and Coron Island. So many people come here to dive and explore the ships.

Words can't begin to describe what I saw! It was so amazing...the ships were really cool, covered in coral and there were so many different looking creatures and fish. I wish I had a camera to take photos but unfortunately the memory is one I can't share.

I would like to get certified and return there to do more diving.

We went hiking up the mountain in Coron Town to see the islands from a different angle. It was a really hot day but we enjoyed the scenery.

The majority of the time there was spent in a boat. That's how everyone gets around. We bypassed a bit of a storm one day.

It felt really good to be on the water all of the time.

Chad and Amanda's Wedding

On Saturday, Amanda and Chad had a small wedding ceremony in Bowring Park. It was supposed to be a nice day but it turned out to be rainy and overcast. In spite of the rain, it was beautiful. Here are some of the photos from the day. If you are on facebook there are lots more photos.

Me and Ben were in charge of making the flower arrangements.

Chad's mom, Deanna. Isaac loved his green umbrella.

Chad and Harry waiting for Amanda to show up.

Where are they!? We had a little trouble at the beginning figuring out where exactly in the park Chad was waiting.

Fixing her dress as they get ready for the vows.

You may kiss the bride!

After the wedding we went back to Amanda and Chad's house for the reception. There was soooo much food, and all in all it was a really nice time. The perfect little wedding.CRAZY Aunt Yvonne and Uncle Ross made it out. She was the funniest person at the wedding especially when it came to taking pictures. And poor Harry had to do the barbequing in the rain!
